Like all of us, I have experienced bad times for our country over the course of my life. I can recall years of fear and misery. I can recall decades of chaos, drugs and war. I’ve lived through violence and plague. And the overwhelming fear of nuclear holocaust shadowed the world for such a very a long time that it hardly seems credible from today’s perspective.
And yet, through all those years of misery, fear, and profound national and personal insecurity, I cannot recall a single year filled with so many bizarre and unprecedented events as 2020. I expect that future historians will look back on this year as a serious aberration in our long history of constitutional government, compounded by a pandemic that has taken 317,000 American lives and is averaging 2500 new deaths each day.
Fortunately, with the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines now being administered, and additional vaccines from other companies in the pipeline, we are turning the corner on COVID-19. And this unprecedently strange and difficult year is coming to an end very soon. So it’s time for us to thank you, our clients and friends, for continuing to support us with your business, even as you too suffered under the cloud of COVID-19.
Here, then, is our wish for all of you to start 2021 with health, hope and prosperity. Without those things our lives are diminished, and we sincerely hope that you and yours experience them in fullness in the coming year. We’ve survived, and we fully expect that 2021 will be a great year for us personally and professionally.
