Yes, Vident Partners is still open for business and actually functioning quite well. We all have home offices, as we have since the start of the company in 2005, so we’re fortunate to be able to continue business as usual during this difficult time. Of course trials are on hold for the foreseeable future, and hearings on motions may be delayed or conducted online; but the bulk of a litigator’s work takes place in the office, not in the courtroom. The attorneys we’ve spoken with over the past several weeks are all working remotely, and although that’s required some adjustment, their work is getting done. They are optimistic about the long term, as are we, but everyone recognizes that we’re all aiming at maintenance rather than growth for the time being.
As for us, most of our experts are taking new cases. The exceptions, for obvious reasons, are medical specialists on the front line of coronavirus care, such as emergency room physicians, hospitalists, medical critical care specialists (both pulmonologists and anesthesiologists), etc. And even within those specialties, it’s not impossible to find physicians who are willing to accept new cases, provided they aren’t rush jobs.
So if you find that you need an expert or two for a current matter, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
